A cork-based sealing system proved to be the decisive breakthrough, preventing water from penetrating the case even with the crown pulled out. In 2019, marking the collection's 75th anniversary, Mido unveiled the Ocean Star Tribute — an exclusive reinterpretation of the original classic. To ensure intuitive legibility, the hands are colour-coded by function: a blue-lacquered 24-hour hand indicates the time in the second time zone, with a blue background denoting daytime hours and black indicating night.

SuperLuminova-coated indices and hands guarantee optimal readability even at depth, while the black dial provides a crisp, high-contrast backdrop. The unidirectional rotating bezel in scratch-resistant blue ceramic also serves as an elapsed-time indicator, its grooved edge allowing for secure, single-handed operation. Like its siblings in the collection, this model is driven by the Calibre 80 automatic movement with a power reserve of approximately 80 hours.

The date-display watch is housed in a sturdy stainless steel case, with a screwed-down case back and crown ensuring optimal resistance under pressure.
